UNILAG Cut-Off Mark for All Courses 2024/2025

Hello there! If you’re interested in University of Lagos (UNILAG) and want to know the cut-off marks for the 2024/2025 academic session, you’re in the right place!

UNILAG Cut-Off Mark

When it comes to getting into UNILAG, it’s not just about meeting the cut-off marks; it’s about surpassing them. This post will break down why going beyond the basic requirement is essential and provide all the details on both general and departmental cut-off marks.

Let’s dive in and make it simple!

Understanding the Quota System

Before we go further, let’s quickly understand the Quota System. It’s a policy in Nigerian universities that regulates the number of students admitted annually and into each department.

Why Aim Higher Than the Cut-Off?

Here’s the deal: Strive to go beyond the basic requirements for your desired course. For instance, if you need at least five credit passes in your O-levels, aim for distinctions. Similarly, if the cut-off mark is 200 for your course, aim for something like 230 or higher.

What’s a Cut-Off Mark?

A “Cut-Off mark” is a target score set by a school to decide if a student can join a particular department. This score comes from how well students perform in a specific test. Importantly, students who score higher than the needed Cut-Off mark get special consideration during the admission process, more than those who just meet the minimum score.

University of Lagos General Cut Off Mark 2024/2025

The General Cut-Off Mark for University of Lagos (UNILAG) signifies the lowest score a student needs for admission. Falling below this mark means you can’t register for their Post-UTME, which, in turn, leads to non-admission to the university.

While every school can set its Cut-Off Mark, they must adhere to the JAMB minimum and cannot go below it.

University of Lagos Departmental Cut Off Mark 2024/2025

When it comes to getting into a specific course at UNILAG, think of the departmental cut-off mark as your magic number. It’s the minimum score you need for admission. The harder it is to get into a course, the higher the cut-off mark. Every year, the university decides these scores for all courses. Some departments openly share their cut-offs, while others do not.

UNILAG General Cut-Off Mark 2024/2025

For the academic session 2024/2025, the University of Lagos UNILAG has set a general cut-off mark of 180 for all degree programs.

Therefore, every candidate who selected UNILAG in their last JAMB exam is required to achieve a minimum score of 180. This score makes them eligible to apply for the post-UTME form and gives them an opportunity to qualify for admission. Failing to score 180 will result in automatic disqualification.

UNILAG Departmental Cut-Off mark 2024/2025

The departmental cut-off mark required for admission to a specific course or department, varies for each university. Using Unilag as an example, the general cut-off mark is set at 200, but there are distinct cut-off marks for different programs, such as 74.5 for Pharmacy, 73.25 for Common Law, and 83.35 for Medicine. The departmental cut-off marks can be calculated, and we will provide a simple explanation here. The competitiveness of a course determines its cut-off mark, with more competitive programs having higher cut-off marks. Each university establishes specific cut-off marks for all disciplines annually. While some universities disclose their departmental cut-off marks, others choose not to make this information public.

How to Calculate UNILAG Screening Aggregate Cut off Mark 2024/2025

O’Level → 20%

UTME → 50%

Post UTME → 30%

This is how you calculate the Unilag screening aggregate cut-off mark;

O’level result:

A1 = 4 points

B2 = 3.6 points

B3 = 3.2 points

C4 = 2.8 points

C5 = 2.4 points

C6 = 2.0 points

Calculate your 5 Core subjects only.

UTME/JAMB Score:

Divide your JAMB/UTME by 8

Divide your post UTME Score by 2

NB: The Candidate must not score below 40% in Post UTME to stand a chance.

Take for instance, you had four As and one B in your O’level result (five core subjects) , scored 280 in your JAMB, and scored 75 in your Post Utme.

O’level result:

Four As and one B = 19.6

Jamb/utme score:

280/8 = 35

Post utme score:

75/2 = 37.5

Your unilag aggregate cut off mark = 92.1
